History: |
The majority of I-87 was constructed throughout the 1960's. The original alignment followed the NY 22 corridor along sections of present day I-684 which had been built. Then turning west and duplexing with I-84 from Brewster to Newburgh before picking up its present alignment along the New York State Thruway to Albany, and Adirondack Northway north of there. In 1970, I-87 was moved to its current alignment.
Tolling on the New York Thruway switched to cashless on November 14, 2020. |
