History:

NY 30 follows its original alignment from its southern terminus at NY 17 in East Branch to near Speculator at the southeastern split of the NY 8/NY 30 duplex. Older maps from the 1950's show NY 30 ending near Speculator. At some point in the late 1950's or 1960's, NY 10's north end was truncated to Higgins Bay and NY 30 was extended north to the Canadian Border along NY 8 and NY 10's former routing.
Recommendation:

Shift NY 30 between Central Bridge and Mayfield onto NY 30A's alignment. The current NY 30 alignment between Central Bridge and Mayfield would be given a new number.
