History:




At the south end, NY 22 originally extended south into lower Manhattan via 4th Ave., Park Ave., 110th St., Lenox Ave., 145th St., the Grand Concourse, Jerome Ave., E. 233rd St., and Provost Ave. In 1972, the southern terminus was truncated to its present location near the Bronx-Westchester County Line. At the north end, NY 22 once extended to the Canadian border near Mooers. In 2008, the designation was truncated by 3 3/4 miles to US 11.
