NY 2A was originally assigned along what is now NY 15A between Springwater and Rochester. When the US 15 designation was extended to Rochester in 1939, the parent NY 2 designation moved to what is now NY 96 and the NY 2A designation moved to what is now NY 96A between Interlaken and Geneva. Three years later, NY 2 and NY 96 swapped alignments and the NY 2A designation was replaced with NY 96A.
Replaced By: NY 15A (1930-39 alignment), NY 96A (1939-42 alignment)
