Originally assigned from 1935-40 along Frisbee St. and Peaceful Valley Rd. between East Chatham (Present Day NY 295) and the Massachusetts state line in Canaan, as well as portions of NY 22 and Reference Route 980 which becomes MA 102 at the state line (Running alongside where the Thruway's Berkshire Spur is today).

In the early 1940s, NY 432 replaced the NY 17F designation between Rathbone and Addison. It would be decommissioned in 1950, but it would be resurrected along the same alignment in the 1970s before being decommissioned a second time in 1998.

Replaced By: Steuben CR 119
Recommendation:

Extend the NY 432 designation along the entire length of Steuben CR 119, starting at NY 36 just outside of Canisteo.

Stray NY 432 reference marker on the westbound side of the roadway. At the time this photo was taken, this was the only reference marker that remained. The last time I travelled this road, there were still a handful of NYSDOT signage posted, including an "Adopt-A-Highway" sign.
