| History: |
In the early 1940s, NY 408 was used to replace a portion of the original NY 63 alignment. NY 408 originally began at NY 16 north of Olean in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus County following the current NY 446 alignment to Cuba. After a brief duplex with NY 305, NY 408 continued north on Allegany CR 20 to NY 19 in Belvidere. NY 408 duplexed with NY 19 north to Allegany CR 16, then followed that to Allegany CR 15 outside of Angelica, Old State Rd., and Livingston CR 24 to Dalton where it meets the current alignment. In 1949, NY 408 was realigned to replace the NY 408A designation, following Allegany CR 16 through Angelica, then north and east along Allegany CR 15B to the current NY 70 alignment in Garwoods. From there, NY 408 would then follow the current NY 70 to Dalton and the current alignment. The original alignment south of Dalton was truncated in 1974. |

Extend NY 408 south to NY 19 outside of Angelica via an overlap with NY 70, then south on Livingston CR 20, Allegany CR 15, and Allegany CR 16. |
