Orientation: | North-South |
Counties: | Cortland, Onondaga |
Cities: | Cortland |
Villages: | Homer |
Towns: | Cortlandville, Homer, Preble, Tully |
Name(s): | West Rd., Homer St., West St. |
History: |
Originally assigned between Homer and Preble. Extended north to Tully by the mid 1930s and south to Cortland by the end of the decade. |
Recommendation: |
Extend NY 281 north of Tully to Syracuse via a brief overlap with NY 80 and then replacing the NY 11A designation. After a brief overlap with US 11, NY 281 would follow the I-81 alignment (slated for major reconstruction with plans to redesignate it as Business Loop 81) into downtown Syracuse where it would end at NY 5. |
