The NY 201 designation was originally assigned to Bean River Rd. (Dutchess CR 59) beginning at Dutchess CR 83 (original NY 82 alignment) and following it into Columbia County to Winchell Mountain Rd. (Columbia CR 8), and north to Columbia CR 3 in Ancramdale. NY 201 then followed CR 3 to its northern terminus at NY 22 near Copake Falls.

Dutchess CR 59, Columbia CRs 8A, 8, and 3
