Original alignment was contained to the section between Brainardsville (NY 374) and Ellenburg Center (US 11). NY 190 was extended east to Plattsburgh in 1980.
Recommendation:

Assigning another number to NY 190 to eliminate duplication with I-190 in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area. We recommend NY 192 as the new designation.
