NY 192 followed the Paul Smiths to Bloomingdale alignment until 1980 when NY 192A was decommissioned and the eastern half of NY 192 was shifted to the former NY 192A alignment. The designation was replaced by a realigned NY 86 in 1989.
Replaced By: NY 86, Franklin CR 55, Essex CR 81
Recommendation:

Using NY 192 to replace the NY 190 alignment in Franklin and Clinton Counties to eliminate duplication with I-190 in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area.
