NY 57's alignment didn't change throughout its existance. The route was decommissioned as the result of the construction of I-481 and NY 481 through Syracuse's northern suburbs. Some vestiges of NY 57 still remain, including a recently installed NY 57 guide sign near the Thruway.
Replaced By:

NY 370 (Syracuse-Liverpool), Onondaga CR 91 (Liverpool-Oswego County Line, signed as Onondaga CR 57), Oswego CR 57 (Onondaga County Line-Fulton and Fulton-Oswego), NY 481 (Fulton and Oswego)

Overhead gantry with a NY 57 shield depicted approaching the Thruway interchange just north of Liverpool. The signage dates to the early 2000s, about 20 years after NY 57's decommissioning.
